Construction on the 392-apartment The Crescent in Salford for developer and Betfred owner Fred Done, kicking off a two-year construction programme on a project which includes towers of 22 and 17 storeys in height.
The contractor has begun piling works on the site and is due to start on the towers’ structure by December. Façade works will begin in July next year, followed by an internal fit-out programme running to October 2019. The project will complete in December the same year.
A series of planning amendments were submitted prior to construction works starting, changing the mix of the apartments in the scheme, all of which will be for private rent.
The number of one-bed apartments has been reduced from 156 to 134, while the number of two-beds has risen from 223 to 234. There will also now be 24 3-bed apartments and townhouses, up from 20.
The apartment mix has been changed due to the relocation of the building’s lift shafts and cores. The amendments have also added a swimming pool on the first floor of the 22-storey block.
Alongside the 22 and 16 storey towers, the 5plus-designed project also includes a smaller six-storey block. Euan Kellie Property Solutions acting as planner for the scheme.
